Miyako’s latest attempt to win Yamato over has her put together an entire eroge, a parody of the VN that the anime is based on. Where every heroine is replaced by her complete with 48 H-scenes between the two of them. Of course, it fails.
Who thought that ten minutes of Mayucchi talking to herself could be so much fun.
Once again she also makes an advance on him in the morning, feeling that he’s more vulnerable after being rejected by Momoyo, however his hardened reflexes thwart this attempt as well. But even after being shot down again, she still won’t give up, and so as the members of the Kazama family eat breakfast with the members that live their, with the addition of their tsundere bro Tadakatsu Minamoto/Gen, she makes another attempt. Offering him one of her croquettes as he praises Mayucchi for having the potential to be a perfect wife, however the hot sauce she uses is too much for him.
At the end of the day Miyako confides in Cookie for help, explaining how she used to be bullied when she was younger until he saved her, eventually coming up with a plan where Cookie will attack him and she will save him, making him fall in love with her. Making her realise she’ll have to use force. However this plan doesn’t exactly go all that well as her attempts to force herself on him are thwarted by Cookie, reversing their roles before Yamato realises what’s going on. After which however, Yamato goes on to explain to Cookie why he rejects all her advantages, he feels that he isn’t worthy of accepting her love after he had sat back and did nothing while she was bullied, and that he saved her for reasons related to himself.
After this Mayucchi is shown taking a bath with Matsukaze and as they reflect on things, he brings up how she’s in love with Yamato in an attempt to get her to accept her feelings. Leading to her remembering how they met on the first day of the school year when she bumped into him at the gate, and while things seemingly went well the thing that’s emphasised is that he saw her panties then. With Matsukaze backing it up by claiming that she’s now obligated to marry him, if not she’ll be forced to watch as gets another girl and lives out his life with her, aside from that the question of just what sort of girl does Yamato like is brought up. With the two of them taking a closer look at the violent battle hungry Momoyo who hits on other girls, but most of all she’s the type who gets along with people easily. Leading to her thinking about her goal of making one hundred friends before they head to bed.

Another somewhat fun episode, the harem take on the series with every girl automatically liking Yamato right from the start is tiring, but how this episode went on to develop at least two of the heroines was something that I liked. For new viewers it should somehow fill in some of the things that have been missing.
Explaining things like why Miyako continually makes bold advances on him, while him rejecting them isn’t a matter of him being dense, and not to forget Mayucchi’s role of being a somewhat awkward girl who aims to make one hundred friends. All things that wouldn’t have been exactly clear for new viewers, and for what it is this style was pretty interesting as well. As if it were to continue it would mean we’d see another episode to develop Chris and Wanko possibly followed by an entire one for Momoyo, who after the way first episode presented her, it seems like she’ll be focused on as the main heroine. So it would sort of make sense for her to get more time. Aside from that however, I hope that we get more time spent on the other bros and wacky side characters.
Adding CGs for the sake of adding CGs/to give the illusion of less text.
Not to mention that how the episode started in a Miyako centric way was a lot of fun, aside from bringing in a bit of fanservice, each of her attempts to seduce Yamato were great, particularly her first. How she went about putting together an entire eroge with five versions of herself as the heroines was glorious, not to mention that the thing was one big parody of the VN the anime is based off in the first place. After which however it was good to see some of the little details about her shown, such as how she prefers spicy things along with how she was bullied in the past until Yamato did something. The latter something that could be thought as being fairly important, her attempts to win him over can at first be put down to something comedic but she’s really the only girl to legitimately love Yamato right from the start, even if the anime has chosen to have them all interested in him instead. And even after this it even went about having him seriously explain just why he’s always rejecting her advances. In all I may have known these sorts of things after playing a bit of the VN but it was just great to see the anime explain them.
And even after that who would have thought that it was possible to watch half an episode of Mayucchi in the bath talking to herself through Matsukaze and enjoy it so much. It was one of those things that sounds like it would be really dull but in the end you somehow find yourself having a lot of fun watching it, in this case being carried along by how reserved and modest Mayucchi herself is accompanied by the overbearing and brash Matsukaze. Seeing the two of them blow things out of proportion was simply great, particularly how after her introduction scene was shown, of all things what was emphasised was that he could see up her skirt then, not that the two of them bumped into each other at the gate under the cherry blossoms on the first day of school, but that small mere aspect alone. And just like Miyako before her, it was good to see Mayucchi’s goal of making one hundred friends brought in as well.
