As Kiritsugu forces her to destroy the grail, Saber wonders whether it is penitence for being unable to understand her subjects, however even with the grail’s vessel is destroyed Kiritsugu can only watch on as Angra Mainyu’s curse rains upon Fuyuki and sets the city ablaze.
At long last Kiritsugu and Kirei confront each other on the final stage without a single word being exchanged, while down below the raging Berserker continues to dominate Saber helpless to act against him.
As the final battle for the grail approaches Saber arrives only to find Berserker armed with dual machine guns lying in wait, while Rider and Waver find themselves face to face with Archer blocking their path.
Couldn’t decide on the title screencap.
Having finally made it back to his base just as the sun starts to rise, Waver is met by Mr MacKenzie who wants to talk with his grandson.
With Rider having abducted Irisviel, Saber races through the streets of Fuyuki in pursuit, and just when she loses track of him the Rider and Waver spot her chasing them and decide to take her up on her challenge as they had planned. Kiritsugu however notices something suspicious as he grieves for Maiya.
In the lead up to the end of the Holy Grail War, Kiritsugu meets with his wife for what could be the last time, who once more thanks him for everything he’s given her and entrusts him with giving Ilya the same happiness as well, before she returns Saber’s third Noble Phantasm, Avalon to him.
Picking up from a somewhat familiar scene, Kiritsugu is now in his teens as Natalia unveils his new Mystic Code after having implanted the dregs of the Emiya Crest, bullets which will materialise his dual Origins of binding and severing within a target.
And to think this was aired on Mother’s Day.
